Sortie à l'opéra
THE TURN OF THE SCREW
On Wednesday, April 16th, our pupils from European section had the opportunity to spend a wonderful day...and night in Lyon as they were part of the programme "Lycéens et Apprentis à l'Opéra".
In the afternoon, they visited the Opera and its different floors (from -6 to 12). They discovered the music rehearsal room, the dancing rehearsal room, the loges, the clothing room. Then, we walked to the Musée des Tissus to enjoy a brand-new temporary exhibition about clothing at the opera: http://www.culture.lyon.fr/culture/sections/fr/patrimoine__histoire/actualites/cos umes_de_legendes_au_musee_des
The group was divided into two parts and half of the pupils followed a guided tour in English while the others had the tour in French.
Finally, after a free time to do some shopping, we attended a wonderful opera by Benjamin Britten based on Henry James's book, The Turn of the Screw. For most of our pupils, it was their first time at the opera and they liked it; first because it did not last too long (1h10 with a 30-minute break) and also because the music and the staging were quite modern.
